


Before I had faced grief in my own life, it seemed so hard to know the right thing to do for somone who was hurting deeply. What if I said the wrong thing? What if faith failed in the sight of suffering? Now, from the other side, I realize that what we do to comfort can never be adaquate - in the sense that it can never undo the loss - and yet we must do what we can.
